June Care Task #3: Clean your "Downloads" Folders

Hi there,

A cluttered downloads folder can slow down your device and make it harder to find important files. Taking a few minutes to clean these up helps keep your phone or computer running smoothly and creates a bit of mental space as well. It feels quite good to declutter!

It's tempting to start down the path of organizing all of your files. You don't necessarily need to do that this week. Just focus on deleting what you no longer need in the Download folder, and leave the rest for later. You can always use the search function to find things later if/when you need them, even if they're not perfectly organized.

Warmly,

Camille

💌 June Care Task #3: Clean your "Downloads" folders

  1. Locate your downloads folder:

    • On a Windows PC, open File Explorer and click “Downloads” in the sidebar.

    • On a Mac, open Finder and select “Downloads” from the sidebar.

    • On your phone, open your file manager app and find the “Downloads” or “My Files” section.

  2. Review the files:
Look through the list and identify files you no longer need: old documents, installers, pictures, or PDFs. If you haven't done this in a while, you'll probably find some surprises.

  3. Delete or move files:

    • Delete files you don’t need by selecting them and pressing delete/trash.

    • For important files you want to keep but don’t need in Downloads, move them to appropriate folders (like Documents, Pictures, or a dedicated project folder).

  4. Empty your trash/recycle bin:
This frees up space on your device.

You did it. Congrats! Leave a comment letting me know how it went to receive some gold stars.
